Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Knowra, a language-learning application with an AI tutor (the “Service”), operated by BenDev (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Knowra helps you learn a language (currently German, English and Dutch) through guided lessons, AI conversation, real-time spoken practice with pronunciation feedback, spaced-repetition flashcards, and practice mock exams. The Service is provided on the web and via our desktop and mobile apps.

2. Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use the Service.
• You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Danger zone → Delete my account.

3. Subscriptions, billing & renewals

• Knowra offers a paid Premium subscription at €8.99 per month, which unlocks the AI features. A limited free experience is available without a subscription.
• Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record, who handles billing, applicable taxes and invoicing. We never receive or store your card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; your access continues until the end of the current paid period, and you will not be charged again.
• Prices may change; we will give notice before any change affects your renewal.
• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including: attempting to break, overload or reverse-engineer it; using it for unlawful, harmful or abusive content; reselling or sharing your account; or scraping or automating access without permission.

5. AI-generated content

The AI tutor generates explanations, corrections, audio and exam-style material automatically. It can make mistakes and should not be relied upon as professional, legal, medical or certified educational advice. Practice exams are original study material in the style of real exams and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for any official examination body.

6. Intellectual property

Knowra, its software, branding and content are owned by BenDev and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own language learning. Words and notes you create remain yours.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BenDev is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or the law.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; we’ll revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
